Jerry Kent will talk about a century of historic fires of the East Bay Hills and their ramifications for us today. More than any other individual, Jerry has studied the problem of fires in the hills and has led public discussions since 1991 on what might be done to mitigate fire dangers in an ecologically sound way. Jerry retired from his post as Assistant General Manager of Operations at the Park District in 2003 but continues working toward fire safety issues with an emphasis on ecological preservation.
