FEMA Grant to UC for wildfire pre-disaster mitigation in Strawberry and Claremont Canyons:Claremont Canyon - the Draft Envionmental Assessment has not yet been issued and the public comment period not yet been set: In our spring 2008 newsletter, we asked our members and the public for help in writing letters to FEMA in support of continued vegetation management on UC property in Claremont Canyon, under FEMA's "Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program," as soon as the public comment period is announced. It now looks like the public comment period will be delayed through 2009 while FEMA responds to comments about related work in Strawberry Canyon. Please be assured that this effort still needs your help and that we will be contacting our members as soon as we know that it is time to comment on the Claremont Canyon phase.
