We are a relatively new organization and there are many opportunities to share your skills with us ... whatever they are.  Please let us know by clicking above.

Our main volunteer thrust has been in vegetation management.  We are particularly interested in recruiting youth volunteers (high school, college level, scouts, etc.) who might like to have nature/outdoor experiences right here in their own "backyard."

While we are eager to initiate volunteer projects, we also encourage responsible stewardship by Claremont Canyon's major land owners (see our home page).  The Conservancy has been influential in several on-site fuel reduction efforts, including the removal of eucalyptus from the eastern ridge on Park District land  and in Garber Park; where the City of Oakland has made significant progress in re-establishing that wonderful, long neglected area.

These efforts, combined with the over 30 volunteer sessions the Conservancy sponsored in the past year and a half really do make a difference to the fire safelty within the Canyon and to the beauty of the canyon to the public.  Trail work continues in both Garber Park and Gwin Canyon (a side canyon).  Trails have now been staked and we await Park District approal and help in going forward with construction.
